Rotary Club of South Bend raises money for polio vaccines around the world

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – The Rotary Club of South Bend held its annual “End Polio Now” event in celebration of World Polio Day.

On Wednesday, community members were invited to come forward and have their little fingers painted purple to raise money for polio vaccines around the world.

Although the United States has not faced a polio outbreak in some time, countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan continue to work to eradicate the disease.

“We are proud to be Rotarians,” said Amber Pulford of the Rotary Club of South Bend. “We like to give back to our community, so we do a lot of local things as well. But it’s great to see all the different Rotary clubs coming together for a common cause.

If you would like to get involved with the Rotary Club of South Bend, they hold a weekly meeting every Wednesday from 12-1 p.m. at the Century Center.
