Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Mining Stocks Fall, Market Rise

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks ended higher on Tuesday with Coal India Ltd. up 2.96 per cent, Lexus Granito(India) Ltd. up 1.83 per cent, Oriental Trimex Ltd. up 1.35 per cent, Aro Granite Industries Ltd. up 1.23 per cent and KIOCL Ltd. up 0.21 per cent leading gainers.

Top losers on the day included Ashapura Minechem Ltd. (down 1.33%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd. (down 1.28%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (down 1.19%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd. (down 0.66%), Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd. (down 0.57%), 20 Microns Ltd. (down 0.50%), MOIL Ltd. (down 0.37%), NMDC Ltd. (down 0.17%) and Pokarna Ltd. (down 0.15%).

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the day up 26.3 points at 24,613.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed 51.69 points higher at 80,716.55.

Coal India Ltd. (up 2.96%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (up 2.67%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (up 2.61%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (up 2.39%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (up 2.02%), LTIMindtree Ltd. (up 1.54%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. (up 1.37%), Tech Mahindra Ltd. (up 1.15%), Infosys Ltd. (up 1.12%) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (up 0.95%) were among the top gainers on the Nifty.

On the other hand, Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 2.39%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (down 2.19%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (down 2.08%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (down 1.48%), NTPC Ltd. (down 1.35%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (down 1.33%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (down 1.32%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (down 0.51%), Cipla Ltd. (down 0.45%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (down 0.44%) ended in the red.
