In a bid to provide essential food items at lower prices, the Department of Agricultural Marketing has launched an initiative to sell agricultural produce directly from trucks.

This initiative aims to offer consumers an affordable alternative to usual market prices.

Starting today (October 24), a variety of vegetables and food items including eggs, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, pointed gourd, onions, papaya, pumpkin sweet and radish, are available for purchase. These products are sold at prices significantly lower than usual market rates, thereby attracting a large number of buyers.

Under this initiative, each consumer can purchase a maximum of 2 liters of edible oil at Tk 100 per liter, 2 kg of lentils at Tk 60 per kg and 5 kg of rice at Tk 30 per kg.

A press release indicates that these TCB operations could be extended until the inflationary situation reaches a tolerable level.
