OK Foods Reaches Settlement in Broiler Chicken Antitrust Case

OK Foods Inc. has entered into a settlement to resolve claims against a poultry producer that conspired to fix and inflate the prices of broiler chickens.

The end-user plaintiffs notified the court in a letter filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The end-users include individuals or entities that indirectly purchased broiler meat from the defendants.

The case is one of a wave of cases involving cartels in animal husbandry, agriculture and protein production, many of which involve allegations of conspiring to launder trade secrets through agricultural databases compiled by Agri Stats Inc.
