MET Energía España signs two 10-year PPAs to supply 100% solar power to Atlantic Copper

The transaction involves several companies in two separate phases. Initially, MET Energía España has reached an agreement with Prosolia Energy, a European leader in renewable energy sources, to acquire the electricity generated by the 23 MWp Sant Jordi photovoltaic power plant in Castellón, the largest in the Valencian Community, for a period of 10 years.

In a second step, MET Energía España has agreed with Atlantic Copper and Fortia Energía to supply the copper producer with green electricity generated by the Sant Jordi photovoltaic power plant. Fortia Energía is a leading independent operator in the Iberian market and one of the main suppliers of energy to large industrial customers in Spain and Portugal. The PPA signed between the parties also includes a 100% certificate of guarantee of origin, which confirms the sustainable origin of the electricity supplied.

“One of MET’s current strengths in European electricity markets is its ability to create innovative, long-term solutions in a transparent way, generating value for both renewable energy producers and large industrial customers,” said Alberto Pérez, Energy Director at MET Energía España. “Both agreements promote new formulas for the decarbonization of Spanish industry.”
