This scalable 57.6 kW solar microgrid is now benefiting 3,000 residents of Kabilpur, Gaibandha. Kabilpur itself is a char—a remote sedimentary land located in a river—but it is ideally positioned to act as a hub for the neighboring chars in the Yamuna River, on which it is situated.

“Summit wants to serve 100% Bangladesh with infrastructure such as electricity and communication. Most of the signs are not covered by the national network. I believe that these signs, like the rest Bangladeshdeserve electricity. Award-winning NGO Friendship has worked wonders. It is an honor to provide solar power to 3,000 residents of Kabilpur Char in association with Friendship,” he noted Muhammad Aziz KhanChairman of Summit Power International.

“Anyone who has seen the Yamuna River in all its glory will understand that mainstream power grids are not really possible here. On the other hand, this solar grid will provide income generation and livelihood opportunities as well as education opportunities for children so that hope and dignity can flourish. We want to thank Summit for their support,” he said Khan rune, founder of Friendship.

The solar village plays a key role in enabling people from these isolated communities to have access to “modern” facilities and longer working hours for businesses and enterprises, as well as scientific and Homical use. Furthermore, renewable solar energy also means less reliance on traditional kerosene lamps that burn fossil fuels with toxic effects.
