Automotive expert reveals 3 signs your engine has a slow leak

A car expert reveals three signs your car is slowly losing a tyre – and the £2 Amazon gadget that can fix it in seconds.

This little tool can make a huge difference if you find yourself stranded on the side of the road, and it will save you from spending hundreds of dollars on a tow truck.

Dave Alexander of Auto Garage Life shared this handy trick on his YouTube channel.

Demonstrating this on his beautiful Ford Mustang, Dave encouraged drivers to get a valve replacement tool to give them peace of mind, even when they feel their tires are worn out.

Dave said, “This little tire tool is actually four tools in one.”

“I’ve had one of these tools in my kit for about 20 years and use it fairly often.

“If you constantly pump air into a tire, you can end up with a slow puncture somewhere.

“It would probably be a good idea to check the valve… (unless) there are any visible nails or screws in it, that’s another obvious place to check for a leak.”

He explained that a slow puncture, where the tire pressure drops very gradually over time, could be caused by the tire valve being slightly loose.

This may be natural, due to normal wear and tear, but a small amount of air may escape while driving.

Fortunately, this can be fixed by using one of the four valve tool tips.

The device has one arm with a cutout on the metal end.

You can insert it into the valve and tighten it gently by turning it counterclockwise.

Don’t over tighten, as over tightening can cause a more severe puncture.

The tool also has three other tips that can be used to clean both the inside and outside of the valve and keep it in good condition.

Valve tools can be purchased online from Amazon for as little as £2.

However, this can save you a lot of money, as roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown can cost hundreds of dollars.

It comes after we revealed a free check drivers can do to stop their cars overheating in today’s 31C temperatures.
