Peloton Launches Strength Basics Collection with Matty Maggiacomo and Joslyn Thompson Rule

Peloton has released a new Strength Basics collection featuring instructors Joslyn Thompson Rule and Matty Maggiacomo. Peloton shared the news on Instagram:

The post includes a video where Matty and Joslyn explain more about the collection, which is designed for people who want to make sure they’re performing strength moves with proper form and precision. Targeted exercises include overhead presses, squats, push-ups, and more.

The Strength Basics collection is now available on hardware, app, and web. The official description of the collection is:

Improve your form, increase your performance. Beginners and experienced athletes alike will benefit from these basic skills classes led by Joslyn and Matty.

The collection currently includes 10 classes with Matty and Joslyn, each 10 minutes long and focusing on one specific movement throughout the class. Specific exercises include: lunge, squat, Romanian deadlift, bent-over row, tricep kick, push-up, overhead press, wood chopping, plank, and bicep curl.

We first reported that this new collection was on the way earlier this month, when Peloton highlighted its contents in its “July Workouts to Watch” email. Because this group is a collection rather than a program, members can access any class they want, whenever they want. The classes are also in the general on-demand library and can be accessed there as well.

This new class is Joslyn’s first specifically focused on strength; while she teaches Tread bootcamp classes—which alternate between treadmill running and mat strength—she hasn’t previously taught a standalone strength class outside of the Arms & Light Weights content. It’s unclear at this time whether Joslyn will become a regular at Peloton strength classes, or if her strength classes will be limited to that collection.
