Building regulations increase homes in Queensland, NSW

Forcing home builders to opt for increased insulation and double-glazed windows to meet energy efficiency requirements are pushing up the price of new houses by up to $58,000 a piece in parts of Australia.

New obligations for homes to have step-free entry points not exceeding 5mm has also increased costs and caused major headaches for builders, who say they have been forced to walk away from some projects.
