Racine man arrested after allegedly finding more than 10,000 child pornography images on his devices

RACINE, WI — A 71-year-old Racine man faces decades in prison after being arrested for possessing more than 10,000 images and videos of child sexual abuse (CSAM), also known as child pornography.

Robert J. Castaneda was arrested July 22 and booked into the Racine County Jail on the following charges:

• Possession of child pornography (15 counts)
• Possession of obscene material depicting a person engaging in sexual contact with
• Animal
• Possession of THC

Each possession charge carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison with a mandatory minimum sentence of three years for each charge. Castaneda’s cash bail is set at $760,100 while Castaneda awaits his initial appearance.

Child pornography found on multiple devices

According to a press release from Racine County Sheriff Chris Schmaling, in May 2024, investigators received multiple tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a home linked to the CSAM photos.

Investigators found enough evidence to obtain a search warrant, and dog Stella discovered several devices in Castaneda’s home containing more than 10,000 images and videos of child sexual abuse.
