She joins us from Intu Properties, the shopping centre owner, where she held several positions including Head Financial Investor and most recently Director of Finance. She was also a member of the Executive Committee of the $9.6 billion retail and leisure property company.

At the Crown Estate, Bowyer will work with Chief Executive Alison Nimmo and the wider Executive Committee to define business strategies to drive long-term growth.

Alison Nimmo, Chief Executive of The Crown Estate, said: “We are delighted to welcome Kate to our high-performing team. Kate’s extensive experience in the property and retail sectors, as well as her impressive track record in financial management, will be invaluable in ensuring that The Crown Estate remains a UK success story.”

The Crown Estate invests in and manages some of the most important assets in the UK. The portfolio includes flagship retail and office space on Regent Street and almost 50% of the buildings in St James’s.

Kate Bowyer said: “I am delighted to be joining The Crown Estate. This is a business that sees the bigger picture and takes a long-term approach to how it creates value across its core sectors to drive better market outcomes and strong returns to the public purse.”

The appointment follows the retirement of John Lelliott, who leaves after more than 30 years with the company.
