Company launches e-commerce platform for Nigerian food products – The Sun Nigeria

Afrifresh, Inc., a Maryland, USA-based e-commerce platform providing access to authentic Nigerian food products, recently announced the launch of its digital platform.

Targeting African retailers, restaurants and caterers in the diaspora, the website is optimized to connect Nigerian food businesses with a wide range of authentic and high-quality products divided into staples, baked goods and crunchy treats. Some of the products available on the platform include Ijebu Garri, banana flour, sweet potato flour, up to five varieties of breads and crunchy treats such as salted and sugared peanuts and more. The platform also offers a wide range of popular food products including Bournvita, Maltina, Malta Guiness, Tom Tom and more.

Speaking about the opening, Abiodun Adeniyi, General Manager of Commercial Operations at the company, said, “One of the biggest challenges for most African restaurants and food businesses operating in the US or around the world is global community is the lack of affordable, wholesale, quality products for their business. They search several markets without any guarantee of product quality or assurance that they will receive a full complement of their needs. Many resort to importing at very prohibitive rates, sometimes with significant logistical challenges.”

“Afrifresh fills this gap by providing a reliable marketplace for authentic and premium African food products so our customers can focus on their core business. As a US-based e-commerce company, we leverage technology and our direct access to suppliers in Africa to ensure orders are delivered within 48 hours. We are optimistic that as we continue to support both established and emerging African food businesses in the diaspora in this way, they will be better equipped to serve their own customers and grow their businesses,” he added.

Afrifresh offers a hassle-free, fast and affordable option for African retailers, restaurants and caterers to source authentic and premium food products from Africa in the diaspora. The service is currently available to businesses in the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia areas in the United States. It is planned to expand to other cities in the US.
