Western Digital Launches Portable Hard Drives Up to 6TB

Western Digital (WD) has announced 2.5-inch portable hard drives (HDDs) with capacities up to 6 TB across its WD line, WD Black and SanDisk Professional. The WD My Passport line of portable hard drives and the SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE ArmorATD with capacities of 6 TB are now available in India.

“We are excited to launch the world’s first 2.5-inch 6TB portable hard drive in India, which is an incredible technological achievement. We understand that storage requirements may vary, so we are pleased to introduce these high-capacity portable drives across our multiple brands,” said Khalid Wani, Senior Director, Sales, Western Digital India.

WD and Sandisk Professional 6TB HDD: Details

For the WD My Passport line, the company said the new hard drives are compact, slim, and ready to use right out of the box. The My Passport Ultra drive features a USB Type-C interface and metal construction. To protect your data, the WD My Passport line offers password protection with 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) hardware encryption. My Passport hard drives are available in a variety of colors.

The SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE ArmorATD offers a more durable design. The company claims that the drive can withstand all terrains and shocks up to 1m. The hard drive has an IP54 dust and water resistance rating and is crushproof up to 1,000 pounds.
