Threads is now rolling out a new method of creating dedicated channels based on search results from users of its iOS app, similar to what Threads uses on the web.

After performing a search, a new option in the app allows users to bookmark a search. Once a search is performed, it will appear on the Home tab, alongside the For You and Following channels.

The feature has been available for some time on the Threads desktop web view, where users can pin multiple custom columns, similar to the TweetDeck feature that was available on Twitter. The new addition to the iOS app is rolling out now, so you’ll likely want to install the latest app update so you don’t miss out when it arrives in your region.

Threads has been around for over a year now. When it launched in July 2023, its capabilities were very modest, but Meta has been working regularly to add new features to make the social network more comparable to X (Twitter).

Since then, the app has gained a web app, the ability to search for entries chronologically, an edit entry feature, built-in translation, Fediwersum integration, quick account switching, and much more.

The gradual addition of new features seems to be paying off: According to Mark Zuckerberg, head of Meta, the app now has more than 175 million monthly active users.
