NASSCOM and Meta launch open-source generative AI grand challenge

NASSCOM, in collaboration with Meta, has launched the Open-Source Generative AI Grand Challenge. The initiative aims to support startups and developers working on open-source GenAI technologies that aim to create socio-economic impact.

The Centre for the Development of Advanced Computer Technologies (C-DAC), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, acts as a technology partner and provides the necessary computing infrastructure.

According to NASSCOM, the aim of the competition is to provide startups and developers with the opportunity to leverage open source technologies to create GenAI solutions across various sectors, highlighting their socio-economic contribution.

This challenge aims to connect innovative solutions with industry leaders to promote widespread adoption. It seeks contributions from generative AI startups and developers in areas such as education, enterprise, and e-government.

Meta Vice President Shivnath Thukral highlighted the role of open AI models in democratizing cutting-edge technology, enabling Indian developers to create transformative solutions. Winning participants will receive a prize of up to Rs 4 lakh, and mentoring opportunities will be available to all participants.
