Two of the first third-party AltStore PAL apps were torrent clients

AltStore PAL is an independent app store for iPhone and iPad owners in the European Union. For the first time ever, this store offers third-party apps.

However, two of the three new apps are definitely not ones that could be approved for the App Store.

The two apps in question are iTorrent, an iOS torrent client app, and iTorrent, a qBittorrent remote client.

The third new app to hit the market is a dating app called PeopleDrop, which aims to connect people passing each other on the street with other people, and the final app is UTM SE, which emulates older operating systems including macOS and iOS, as well as Windows.

The addition of the two torrent apps is of course something to note, as these apps would not normally be available on iPhones due to Apple’s App Store policies. For this reason, they will not be available outside of EU countries, as the Digital Markets Act allows for third-party marketplaces.

The question remains how popular any of these apps will be, and whether they really pose the security risks Apple worries about. But many argue that having them installed is better than not having them at all.
