Meta to be hit by EU antitrust regulation in fight for market

Meta Platforms Inc. has faced its first fine from the European Union over allegations it abused its dominant position in the classifieds market by linking Facebook Marketplace to its social network.

As part of the upcoming EU regulation — expected to be released in the coming months — European Commission regulators could also tell Facebook it will have to create a separate version of its classifieds platform, according to people familiar with the matter. That would allow users to log into Facebook Marketplace without having to go through the social media platform.
