LEETONIA — Other than a 90-minute executive session just before the start of the regular meeting with Treasurer Jennifer Coldsnow and newly hired Superintendent Gerald DelBoccio — who begins his three-year contract Aug. 1 — the Leetonia Board of Education focused primarily on personnel matters during its Thursday meeting.

The executive session that was held for staff was attributed to it being DelBoccio’s first meeting. No mention was made of “no bill” during the meeting and presented them with the agenda.

Board members approved an 11-page bill, mostly filled with personnel measures. The bill included adjusting Mary Rice’s contract for 2024-25 as a seventh- through 12th-grade school counselor, as well as hiring Dena Kassawat, Mark Taylor, Casey Kegelmyer, Shannon Magmore, Alicia Wolfe and Peggie Courtwright.

Cafeteria prices have been set for the 2024-25 school year. Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students; however, second lunches can be purchased for $2.50 each for grades K-5 or $2.75 for grades 6-12, and the school board has approved a list of alacarte dishes available for purchase at undisclosed costs.
