LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning to consumers to be careful while purchasing mobile phones from shops.

The PTA, in a statement shared on social media, appealed to the public to remain vigilant about cloned and duplicate mobile devices.

The office stressed that consumers should always buy phones from trusted sources and make sure the devices have a valid warranty.

The PTA has instructed buyers to select phones in boxes, check the PTA stamp on the box and check if the IMEI number on the phone is the same as that on the box.

To verify their devices, users should visit the website /https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk, send an SMS with their IMEI number to 8484 or use the DVS app.

PTA warned against purchasing expensive devices at unusually low prices or those that have no warranty.

Consumers have been advised to ensure they buy mobile devices in boxes and, if they fall victim to fraud, to contact the retailer and report any issues to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
