How Kerry Washington Helps Her Puppy Handley Cope With Jet Lag (Exclusive)

Kerry Washington’s dog Cinnamon keeps the star company abroad, but the pup has his own schedule.

Washington, 47, was busy filming a movie in London Wake Up, Dead Man: The Knives Mystery and spoke to PEOPLE magazine while on a quick trip to Paris for haute couture week, admitting that her European adventures this year haven’t been all that glamorous.

Her time in Europe has left Washington struggling with the occasional bout of jet lag, but she says her pup Cinnamon needs the most help with the jet lag.

“Six-month-old Shih Tzu-Yorkie Cinnamon has had a hard time,” Washington says of the pair’s European schedule.

“I’ve been getting up and taking her out at 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. She’s brand new, so we’re panicking!” she adds of Cinnamon, who is in Europe with Washington this summer.

The actress may have stayed up late to walk Cinnamon, but she says it was her kids who wanted a furry friend more than anything else. “They had really wanted a dog for a long time, and my dog, Josie, passed away about three years ago, so it took my husband and I a while to be ready,” Washington says. “We love Cinnamon.”

Washington, who is an executive producer and star of the new season Untrapped on Hulu shared more unforgettable One Last Thing moments with PEOPLE:

Last time I couldn’t stop laughing
When my children laugh uncontrollably, I can’t stop, even if I don’t know what they’re laughing at. Their joy brings me so much joy.

The last thing I took from the set
Well, I’m planning to do that right now Outdoor knives what I want to take (Washington collaborators in the upcoming third Outdoor knives movie), but I think the last thing I picked up was a pair of Jordan shoes that I really liked Untrapped.

The last perfect day off
Our family recently went to Disneyland Paris for the first time. My love for the Disney ethos lives on in my children and we had a great time. I always feel nostalgic on the “It’s a Small World” ride.

The last time I danced
In my living room with my kids. Everyone can choose any song, and for me it’s usually something like Afrobeats. Everyone in the family would say they’re the best dancer.
