Hunger Protest: Give President Tinubu More to Fix Nigeria, Asks Governor Abdulrazaq

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the administration continues to implement programmes aimed at improving living conditions.

Speaking in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government of State, during the first anniversary of the coronation of the Onijagbo land of Ijagbo, Oba Sarafadeen Adeniyi Babalola, and the launch of the Ijagbo Palace Development Fund, AbdulRazaq admitted that President Tinubu assumed office in the midst of a difficult economic crisis that required systemic reforms and understanding from the people.

“President Tinubu is gradually fixing things. So he needs our patience and support to get things sorted out,” the governor said.

“Those planning protests should be patient with the President to fix the situation. This is an appeal. He has only just spent a year in office. It is also too early for those with political ambitions to begin to assess his achievements.”

He congratulated the monarch on the first anniversary of his reign, praising him for promoting peace and unity and helping the government to succeed.

“We need the continued support of the people of Ijagbo community and the entire state to succeed. Our success is your success. Both the Onijagbo of Ijagbo and the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice have spoken well. Everything they have said is already being implemented. We are committed to improving access to basic infrastructure in Ijagbo lands and across the state,” he said.

The anniversary was attended by many dignitaries including Senator Lola Ashiru (Kwara South), Minister of Justice and AGF Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, Chairman of KAM Holdings Alhaji Kamoru Yusuf, senior chiefs of the Ijagbo tribe and the Chairman of the Ijagbo Descendants Union (IDU), Chief Tunde Agboola Oyawoye.

Also in attendance were the Olupo of Ajase Ipo, Oba Ismaila Yahaya Alebiosu; the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II; the Olomu of Omu Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Olaoti; and the Olusin of Ijara Isin, Oba Solomon Olugbenga Oloyede, among others.

Fagbemi said the federal government was doing everything in its power to salvage the current economic situation and appealed to people to postpone planned protests.

He assured that Nigerians would soon feel the ease of implementing the transformation agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Oba Sarafadeen in his speech thanked the governor for his support to the community and appealed for more assistance, especially in terms of road infrastructure and teachers.
