Confusion Over Poor Funding Allocation for Tennessee Rail Projects

Chennai: TNCC president K. Selvaperunthagai has urged Congress activists across the state to protest in front of railway stations across the state, condemning The Union Government for the bad allocation of funds railway projects in the budget.
“People should be aware of the federal government’s discriminatory approach towards Tamil Nadu in the matter of budget allocation for railways,” he said.
He said Tamil Nadu received an allocation of just Rs 6,362 crore out of the total budget of Rs 2.64 lakh crore for railways. “It is only 3.49 per cent of the total railway budget. All other states received much more,” he said.
“If Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to divide people politically and act in a biased manner, Fund allocation“People would teach him a proper lesson,” he said.
The Left parties will also hold a rail and road siege on August 1 to protest against the “betrayal” of Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget. CPM MP Su Venkatesan told reporters at the CPM office on Sunday that Tamil Nadu is the most urbanised state in the country, requiring a significant budget allocation for national highways, railways and the airport. However, nothing has been allocated in the budget, he said.
