How to connect AirPods to your computer and Android devices

Just because Apple’s AirPods are designed with other Apple devices in mind doesn’t mean they’ll only work with those devices.

Yes, you can use AirPods with a PC or Android mobile device. It’s not as easy as setting up AirPods with an iPhone or Mac, but it’s not too complicated either.

Follow the steps below to connect your AirPods to your Windows or Android computer.

How to connect AirPods to your computer

Put your AirPods in their charging casemaking sure they are at least partially charged. Open the top of the AirPods charging case, but don’t take your AirPods out of the case yet.Touch and hold round button on the back of the AirPods charging case for a few seconds until the light inside the case flashes white.

Now open the Bluetooth settings on your computer by clicking Bluetooth icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of the taskbar) or by searching for “Bluetooth” in the taskbar and selecting Bluetooth and other device settings.Click “Add Bluetooth or other devices” at the top of the settings screen. On the “Add a device” page, click the best option for Bluetooth.

Click AirPods option from the list of all Bluetooth discoverable devices. Wait about 30 seconds and you should see connection confirmation screen after pairing and connecting your AirPods to your computer.

Troubleshooting connection failures

When you take your AirPods out of the charging case, they should automatically connect to your computer. If your AirPods are having trouble connecting to your computer, don’t panic. Close your AirPods case and your computer’s Bluetooth settings, and simply repeat the pairing process described above. Your AirPods should automatically connect to your computer after a few seconds every time you take them out of the charging case. If for some reason they don’t, try the following:

Open the Bluetooth settings on your computer by clicking Bluetooth icon in the lower right corner of the taskbar system tray. Alternatively, you can search for “Bluetooth” in the taskbar and select “Bluetooth and other device settings” when it appears. Scroll down to the Audio section in the Bluetooth list and click AiPods listing.This should reconnect Bluetooth between computer and AirPods.

Keep in mind that Siri is an Apple-exclusive app, so you won’t be able to use the voice assistant while your AirPods are connected to your computer.

Connecting AirPods to an Android device is similar to connecting them to a computer. Before doing anything, make sure your AirPods are charged and in their case.

HOW TO USE SIRI WITHOUT SAYING “HEY”

Open the AirPods case cover, but do not remove the AirPods from the case.On the AirPods case, press and hold button on the back case until it flashes white. Your AirPods should show up in the Bluetooth device list.

If you can’t find AirPods in your Android Bluetooth device list, check them in the “Available Devices” section of your Bluetooth settings. You can also refresh the Bluetooth list by tapping More and then “Refresh.”
