In short

  • Google has released a beta version of Android 15 4.1 for Pixel devices enrolled in the Android Beta program, covering all Pixel 6 and 6 Pro models and up.
  • This minor update, build number AP31.240617.010, resolves issues with audio dropouts during calls.
  • The small scope of this update suggests that Google is close to releasing Android 15 to the public.

This morning, Google announced that it has rolled out Android 15 beta 4.1 to Pixel devices enrolled in the Android Beta program. All enrolled Pixel devices, starting with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, are included in this rollout. It appears to be a minor update to Android 15 beta 4 and fixes some issues that were causing audio to fail during calls on Pixel devices. Given the nature of this rather minor update, it’s safe to assume that we’re pretty close to the public rollout of Android 15.

The Mountain View-based tech giant made the announcement via a Reddit post, where it advised users to head over to the release notes for more details. The latest update comes with build number AP31.240617.010 and will come with the July 2024 security patches. In the release notes, Google explains that this update will fix “various issues that would sometimes cause device audio to crash when making or receiving calls.” Interestingly, the fixes are for issue #354086106, #354582492, #354788692, #355129314, and #355024157. However, the release notes state that other issues identified in beta 4 will remain in version 4.1 as well.

Eligible devices will receive an OTA update to Android 15 beta 4.1. To check if this update is available for you, go to Settings > System > Software Updates > System Updates > Check for UpdatesIf you don’t see it yet, check to see if you’re actually enrolled in the Android Beta program and if your device is eligible.

While there is no word on when we can expect the stable version of Android 15, the tech giant could make the release public during the Made by Google event scheduled for August 13, given that a relatively minor bug fix update was rolled out just days after beta 4 was made available.
