OnePlus is offering free screen replacement on select phones. Here are the details

To address the recurring issue with AMOLED screens, OnePlus has announced a new initiative to offer free screen replacements on select phone models. The green line issue, a hardware issue often wrongly attributed to software updates, has plagued various smartphone brands. Unlike other companies, OnePlus is stepping in with a pre-emptive display replacement program as part of its Red Cable Club loyalty initiative to help them solve the problem.

User X (formerly Twitter) with the username Starcommander spotted this offer in the Red Cable Club section of OnePlus phones. It reveals that OnePlus is offering free screen upgrades to users who are having display issues. This program is specifically aimed at OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R users. Eligible devices must be free of damage and unauthorized repairs. Those in India can find this offer in the Red Cable Club section in the Settings section of their OnePlus phone.

OnePlus told Android Authority that this initiative includes 3 tiers of service. There’s a “Comprehensive diagnostics that includes a thorough assessment of screen performance and reliability.”

The second is Screen Upgrades and Replacements, where eligible users will receive a “new, advanced display panel” designed to improve “performance with vibrant colors and increased durability.” These screens are “specifically designed to perform well in high-humidity, high-temperature environments,” the company said.

The third service is the “Deep Cleaning Service,” in which OnePlus offers a “free, deep cleaning of your device.”

OnePlus has partnered with its suppliers to develop new screen technology for these older devices that are no longer sold. These new screens promise better resistance to moisture and other environmental conditions, which the company says will provide users with a longer lifespan and a better experience.

“Users can visit our service centers for diagnostics to determine if their device is at risk. Devices with man-made damage, such as drops or liquid intrusion, are not eligible for this free update and should be repaired through our standard after-sales service,” the company said.
