Samsung’s CEO highlights the rapidly growing Indian market and the company’s heavy investment in production and R&D in the country.

New Delhi, July 30 (PTI) India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world and South Korean technology major Samsung sees huge growth potential in the country, a senior company executive said.

Jong-Hee (JH) Han, vice president, general manager and head of Device eXperience (DX) Business Unit at Samsung Electronics, visited the company’s manufacturing plant in Noida on Monday.

“India is one of the largest and fastest growing markets in the world and offers a huge opportunity for Samsung. We were one of the first companies to invest in India and I am delighted that the Noida plant has become one of our largest facilities, manufacturing not only for India but for the world,” he said.

The company produces smartphones, tablets and refrigerators for both the domestic and global markets.

In addition to the Noida plant, the company has a manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.

Han appreciated the contribution that Samsung’s Indian R&D teams make in developing new products and services for the company.

“India has a large population of young, tech-savvy consumers who inspire us to innovate. I am proud that many young, enterprising engineers who are playing an important role in AI development are working in our R&D centres in India,” he said.

Samsung has three R&D centres in India, of which two are located in Noida and one in Bengaluru.

Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore is Samsung’s largest R&D center outside South Korea.
