Samsung One UI 7.0 beta won’t be available until next month

With Android 15 set to launch on August 13, those with smartphones manufactured by third-party Android OEMs are eagerly awaiting the update. Samsung smartphone owners are no exception as Samsung has already confirmed that its One UI 7 will arrive alongside Android 15. The brand has been one of the best in terms of Android updates outside of Google’s wings so far and is expected to be among the first to bring Android 15 to its smartphones. However, the first public beta of the Android 15-based One UI 7 is expected to take a bit longer than initially thought.

Samsung One UI 7.0 beta version not available until August

The first public beta of Android 15-based One UI 7 was initially rumored to be rolling out this week for the Samsung Galaxy S24 family. However, we’re almost at the end of the week, and that hasn’t happened yet. According to a new rumor, that won’t happen. Instead, it’s supposedly been pushed to the third week of August. The reason for the delay is the One UI 6.1.1 update. It’s still making its way to older Galaxy foldables, tablets, and some high-end smartphones. Samsung wants to focus on one update at a time.

One UI 7 will be a pretty big update that will bring a major overhaul to Samsung’s Android overlay. According to leaks, it will feature a revamped quick settings panel that is separate from notifications. It will also have more rounded corners throughout the UI, new Samsung app icons, and a new lock screen design with battery charging status and bolder shortcuts. It will also feature a search bar at the bottom of the app drawer and a new camera app. The new camera app should make it easier to use with one hand and more conveniently arrange settings and modes.

News of the week from Gizchina

One UI 7 rumors also suggest new, smoother animations to play across the UI. We have to take these details with a pinch of salt, though. We’ll need an actual public beta to get a full look at the new features, after all.

First devices eligible for One UI 7

As usual, Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones will be the first in line to receive the new One UI 7.0 beta. However, the public beta will reach Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra first. It may be released in South Korea first. Germany, India, UK, US, and China may also get access to the update. However, it should be released a bit later than the initial version.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 should follow suit as the next in line to get One UI 7. We expect exclusive features that take advantage of the foldable display capabilities of this duo. The beta program should also expand to older high-end smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The question remains whether it will include older foldables as well.

With the August rollout, Samsung has plenty of time to ensure a stable rollout by the end of 2024. Typically, the brand would roll out a stable build for its flagships in the last quarter of each year. It then rolls out the update to its mid-range smartphones. There are a number of Galaxy A and Galaxy M series that are also eligible for this and future updates.

Application

Samsung has committed to offering high-quality software support for its smartphones, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the company is one of the first to roll out a stable Android 15 after Google’s public rollout. We’ll be following the case for more details.
