Raj Nidimoru says the Russo brothers were very receptive to the idea of ​​”Citadel” and allowed them to stick to their way

The Indian series titled “Citadel: Honey Bunny” is a sequel to the Italian series “Citadel: Diana” and is set in the 1990s. Varun Dhawan AND Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles, Prabhu played Honey and Dhawan played Bunny.
Raj Nidimoru expressed his excitement about working with the Russo brothers. In an interview to PTI, he said, “This is the first time we are working with anyone. Apart from that, we were fiercely independent filmmakers.” He added that they immediately agreed to direct ‘Citadel India’ as soon as the opportunity arose.
During the pitch meeting, Raj and DK shared their vision for the series, which differed from the Russo brothers’ original concept. “Our pitch was a little more cinematic. There are cinematic elements everywhere. I thought they would stick to what they had in mind, but they were very happy with our idea, they asked us to stick to our vision,” Nidimoru said.
The Russo brothers have been described as “very gracious, extremely collaborative, and free” during the creative process. Nidimoru added, “When we finished reading, we were texting each other, ‘There are so many great minds sitting together here,’ and at the end we were like, ‘We’re actually not that bad,’ but we only have 10% of their resources.”
DK highlighted the stark differences between the Indian and international versions of Citadel in terms of scale and design. “We saw their gadgets and everything and thought, thank God we set ours in a different time period, a different era.”
The Indian series, set in the 1990s, will feature less advanced gadgets compared to the international version. DK mentioned that the gadgets in the Indian series, set in the 1990s, will not be as advanced as those in the international version. He noted that viewers will understand the distinction once they see the rest of the series and the trailer, emphasizing that the technology will reflect the limitations of the era.
“Citadel Honey Bunny” is the Indian version of the larger global series “Citadel,” starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden. The film is set to premiere on November 7, 2024.
