The Stack: The Latest Deals & Acquisitions in Ad Tech

This Week on The Stack: The Latest Deals and Acquisitions in Ad Tech; Today’s MadTech Daily

Deals and acquisitions have been a big part of our news roundups this week, starting with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the U.S. In establishing its media partners, the sports giant renewed deals with Disney and Amazon, and also struck a new partnership with NBCUniversal. In the events space, Hyve acquired POSSIBLE, a marketing trade association backed by MMA Global.

Meanwhile, Connatix and JW Player have been discussing a merger that would be funded by Court Square Capital Partners, the private equity firm that owns a controlling stake in Connatix. Today’s MadTech Daily also covers Outbrain’s purchase of Teads, valued at more than $1bn (£78m). The outlook wasn’t as positive for Grab, which scrapped its takeover of Trans-cab, Singapore’s largest taxi operator, following scrutiny from the country’s competition watchdog.

NBCUniversal appears to be riding a wave of success – as well as winning the rights to NBA content, it is also on track to exceed ad spend expectations for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Total ad revenue for this year’s Games is set to exceed $1.25bn (£0.97bn) – a figure that would set a new record for Olympic ad spend.
