The German track and field star, who has been dubbed the “world’s sexiest athlete” by the media for years, has given her legions of social media fans an intimate look at her impressions of the Paris Olympics so far.

“In just one month, I’ll be in Paris making memories that will last a lifetime. That thought has motivated me every day for the past few years, reminding me why it’s important to never give up on my goals and put in the work,” the athlete and social media sensation wrote on Instagram at the time.

“No matter how big your dreams are, if you stay committed and believe in yourself, good things will come your way.”

Schmidt previously traveled to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics but did not compete.

In the hours before Friday’s event, Schmidt reflected on the journey she had taken to get to this moment.

“Today is the day❤️‍🔥 Today at 7:22 PM I will run in the mixed relay,” she wrote on Instagram on Friday.

“I, little one, would be so proud.”

The post shows Schmidt in her Olympic outfit, and then the video cuts to a childhood photo of her holding her gold medal.

“Good luck in the race, give it your all, we are with you!” shouted one Instagram user.

Another put it this way: “Kid, you’re so proud.”
