Delhi LG authorities set timeline for property registration under new NGDRS software

Lt Governor VK Saxena has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to ensure that all properties in the capital are registered under the National General Document Registration System (NGDRS) by January 2025.

After conducting a review meeting on the implementation of NGDRS, Mr. Saxena said the software developed by the Union government has been implemented in 18 states and Union Territories, but not in Delhi, the Raj Niwas statement said. He added that the LG is currently monitoring its implementation to increase transparency, reduce processing time and prevent corruption and fraud.

NGDRS, an online integrated portal for appointments, valuations, fee calculations, payments, document data entry, presentations and property registration, is based on the concept of “One Nation, One Software” and aims to establish a faceless registration process. It will enable citizens to calculate stamp duty and registration fees while authenticating beneficial ownership of the property, thereby minimizing the risk of fraud.

The pilot project was launched last year in two sub-registrars and Raj Niwas said it is now available in all 22 offices.

“MCD has been directed to integrate UPIC number with NGDRS, which will help in collating all property-related data in MCD, which will be linked with the property tax database and ultimately with utility billing data,” said Raj Niwas.
