Four children buried alive, two injured after shared wall collapses at home and school in Mississippi

BHOPAL: At least four schoolchildren in the age group of 5-7 years were buried alive while a woman and another girl student were critically injured after an old and dilapidated wall of a house adjacent to a private school collapsed following incessant rains in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. Three of the deceased and one injured child belong to the same family.

The incident took place around 3 pm in Garh town in Rewa district – about 55 km from MP’s eastern district headquarters.

An old wall of a house next to a private school – Sunrise Public School – suddenly collapsed. Several students returning home after classes for the day, along with their guardian, were trapped against the wall.

Residents immediately arrived at the scene to rescue children buried under the rubble of the collapsed wall.

Five students and their guardian were rescued from the rubble of the collapsed wall and taken to a nearby health centre (CHC), where doctors pronounced four of the minors dead upon arrival.

One girl and her guardian (who lost her son in a tragic accident) were taken by the police to the Sanjay Gandhi Government Medical College Hospital in Rewa, where their condition was stated to be critical.

The four deceased children are: Anshika Gupta (5), her cousins ​​Manya Gupta (7) and Siddharth Gupta (5) and Anuj Prajapati (7).
