Vice President of Engineering, Pilot

Jill Wetzler is the Vice President of Engineering at Pilot, the largest provider of accounting, tax preparation, and CFO services to startups and small businesses. She is passionate about scaling organizations and their technology stacks during periods of high growth. Prior to Pilot, Jill was the Director of Engineering at Lyft since 2015, where she built the infrastructure engineering organization and led efforts to scale the distributed architecture, including the development and release of Envoy Proxy in 2016. Jill has also led teams of engineers and data scientists in the Data Products organization at Twitter and has been both a Principal Engineer and a Manager of Platform Teams at salesforce.com since 2006. Jill is a passionate advocate for building diverse technology teams and has written several talks and articles related to building inclusive organizational processes that advance underrepresented individuals in technical roles. She founded and led numerous employee resource groups during her tenure and was a founding member of Lyft’s Technology Diversity Task Force, which implemented initiatives to increase representation and advancement opportunities for underserved and undervalued workers. She advises numerous senior leaders at companies throughout the United States and East Africa, and is an advisor to Diversity Advocates, a professional learning community sponsored by the Kapor Center for Social Impact in her hometown of Oakland. Jill earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon in 2005.
