2 buses added on Sec 99 route to Huda City Centre Metro Station in Gurugram

Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Ltd (GMCBL) has launched two buses on route 127 and the facility will be operational from Sunday, servicing the developing sectors along Dwarka Expressway. The buses will run from Sector 99 to Huda City Centre Metro Station, now known as Millennium City Metro Station, covering the distance of 25 km in about an hour, making eight trips a day. The service is aimed at benefiting residents of Sectors 99, 102, 100, 103, 106, 108, 109, Daultabad, Kherki Majra and nearby areas.

Residents, especially those living in apartment buildings, welcomed the new service, highlighting its potential to increase accessibility and improve the safety and comfort of commuting.

Praveen Kaushal, a resident of Sobha City in Sector 108, said residents have been in talks with the authorities for the past six months to launch the service. “About 70,000 families along Dwarka Expressway depend on personal transport. The bus service will make commuting much easier. We request for more AC buses, e-buses and services to Delhi,” he said.

Residents have also been advocating for a bus service between Gurugram and Delhi via Dwarka Expressway, and a trial run was conducted a few months ago. Prakhar Sahai, a resident of Dwarka and convener of Dwarka Expressway Gurugram Development Association, highlighted the benefits of such a service, including reducing traffic, pollution and commuting costs. “There is a need for a last-mile service to Dwarka Sector 21 metro station,” he added.

Employees of condominiums and commercial areas, who earlier found it difficult to commute, will also benefit from the new service. “There are at least 50 condominiums near this bus route and around 150 people work as support staff in these complexes, who earlier found it very difficult. The bus service will make their lives easier, apart from the thousands of residents living in the sectors along the Dwarka Expressway. We also request the authorities to increase the number of buses on this route,” said Sunil Sareen, former president of Imperial Garden RWA, Sector 102.

Despite the benefits of the service, the response on the first day was poor due to low awareness. “Today is the first day, so not many people knew about the service. The entire route will be covered in an hour and the ticket price is only 10 and 30. We expect the popularity to increase as it is the only direct mode of transport in this area,” said Vikas Singh Shekhawat, a bus driver on this route.

A senior GMBCL official said the bus service will improve the area’s connectivity with the city. “We will receive new e-buses in October, which will help us expand the network to new areas. We have already conducted surveys for new routes along the Dwarka Expressway,” he said.
