Rodington Heath residents say it’s about food, not housing, as the fields are zoned for housing

“We are currently working on feedback, reviewing and revising the draft local plan based on the comments received,” she said.

“An updated version of the plan, taking into account this feedback, as well as any changes to government policy as a result of the current consultation, will be made available for public consultation in the coming months.”

However, resident Alan Rogers appealed for the fields to be used for farming rather than development, saying such proposals were unworkable.

“The number of people living in the village is likely to triple,” he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

“I don’t believe the infrastructure is there, the road network, drainage, lighting, footpaths, so there are a lot of safety issues that could cause a problem.”
