Airframe Designs Forms Advisory Board

Aerospace specialist Airframe Designs has appointed an Advisory Board to support the company’s strategic growth and the expansion of its engineering and additive manufacturing services into the aviation, defence and space sectors.

The advisory board will be chaired by Gary Lumby, a seasoned business advisor with extensive experience in guiding companies through growth phases.

His experience in banking led to him being awarded an MBE for services to the financial industry. He is also a growth expert for the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Programme, in partnership with Oxford University Business School.

He is joined by Jeff Cheetham, whose engineering and business development expertise further strengthens the board’s capabilities. With a diverse background in delivering growth and operational performance, he has worked at various levels of strategic management within BAE Systems and is a non-executive director of North West Aerospace Alliance.

The appointment of the Advisory Board is a significant milestone for Airframe Designs, which has recently experienced significant growth and increased its headcount to almost 30 people.

Airframe Designs has built a reputation for delivering optimal mechanical engineering solutions with a focus on new designs, modifications, repairs and reverse engineering, as well as advanced additive manufacturing services.

Using polymer additive manufacturing technology combined with 3D scanning and 3D modeling, Airframe Designs offers creative solutions to complex engineering challenges in the aerospace and defense markets, including airframe tooling solutions. This technology can also be adapted to other industries, including space, nuclear, motorsports, and rail.

Recent projects undertaken by Airframe Designs include the design and production of a range of 3D printed measuring instruments to support the mounting of external sensors on the fuselage of special purpose military aircraft, as well as the integration of new systems with drone platforms for transporting heavy loads.

The company was also responsible for platform-level conceptual design for new unmanned aerial systems, testbeds and instrumentation for electric vehicle propulsion systems, and most recently, the design and analysis of an operator console for a special mission aircraft.
