5 Best MagSafe Batteries for iPhone

With each new iPhone release, Apple seems to be getting better at extending battery life. In our SlashGear iPhone 15 review , we praised the device’s “solid battery life,” among other features. But even the best batteries lose power over time, and it’s always a good idea to have a spare power bank on hand in case you don’t have access to a wall outlet or time to wait for your phone to charge.

Power banks come in all shapes and sizes — even the best power banks for Android and iPhone have a lot of differences between them. For example, not all of them use MagSafe, since it’s still a relatively new smartphone solution. Apple has been using MagSafe wireless technology — which uses magnets to seamlessly charge your device without the need for cumbersome cables — since the iPhone 12 all the way up to the iPhone 15 series. With MagSafe, you simply place your compatible smartphone on or next to the MagSafe charger, and the magnets do the rest. MagSafe batteries are especially useful because you don’t have to carry around an extra cable like you would with a traditional power bank.

Apple originally manufactured and sold its own proprietary MagSafe battery, but discontinued the device when the iPhone switched from a Lightning port to USB-C. Fortunately, many other companies produce high-quality third-party options that will work just as well — if not better — for your device. Based on hands-on testing and reviews from SlashGear and other reputable publications, here are the five best MagSafe batteries for iPhone. You can read more about how these products were chosen at the end of this list.

Ugreen Foldable Magnetic Battery Stand

If you really want to make sure you never end up with a dead iPhone, you’ll need the 10,000mAh capacity of the Ugreen Kickstand foldable magnetic battery. The device can fully charge an iPhone 15 Pro Max twice. When you finally do have access to a power outlet, you can fully charge the empty battery in just an hour and a half using a 20W charger. In addition to its large capacity, one of the other great things about the battery is that it can charge three different devices at once — 15W with MagSafe, 20W via USB-C, and 22.5W via USB-A.

With these different options, you can use the power bank not only for newer iPhones, but also for a wide range of other devices — so if you end up needing to charge your phone, tablet, and headphones all at once, Ugreen has a solution for you. SlashGear tested and reviewed the Ugreen Foldable Kickstand Magnetic Battery and surprisingly found that charging multiple devices doesn’t slow down any of the outputs. An LED indicator will quickly let you know how much charge is left in the device, which automatically charges your iPhone when you plug it in.

Another bonus is the integrated kickstand, which lets you hold your phone upright for work, watching media, or video calling. The kickstand folds down to save space in your pocket, and it also keeps the gray bank looking simple and elegant. The device isn’t lightweight — at 7.9 ounces, it’s heavier than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but that’s one benefit of its large capacity. The Ugreen Kickstand Foldable Magnetic Battery has a list price of $59.99, but it’s currently available on Amazon for $39.99.

Anker 622 Magnetic Battery (MagGo)

Anker has a solid reputation for wall chargers and power banks, so it’s no surprise that it also has one of the best MagSafe iPhone batteries — the Anker 622 Magnetic Battery (MagGo). This is one of the more stylish MagSafe power banks on the market, with a small and compact frame, rounded edges, and three different pastel colors in addition to white or dark gray: misty blue, lilac purple, or sea green.

The MagGo has a 5,000mAh capacity and can charge an iPhone 13 to 80% in just a few hours. It has a built-in kickstand that reclines 30 degrees, allowing you to use the phone in both portrait and landscape modes. The device can be charged via USB-C, but after testing the product thoroughly, Engadget found that “you can’t charge the battery while it’s in the kickstand position” because the port is on the bottom. The reviews were mostly positive, though it was noted that the battery can get quite hot while charging. The Anker 622 Magnetic Battery (MagGo) has an MSRP of $44.99, although you can find it for less on Amazon, and the price depends on the color you choose. The white option costs just $32.75.

Baseus Magnetic Portable Charger 20W 10000mAh

The first thing you’ll notice when using the Baseus Magnetic Portable Charger 20W, 10,000mAh to wirelessly charge your iPhone is that the magnets snap together solidly, as the device provides a strong and secure grip on your device. You can also connect another item to the charger at the same time, as the power bank can simultaneously charge two different devices thanks to its built-in 20W USB-C port. This port works in two ways and will allow you to charge the power bank when you need it, at 18W.

With a 10,000mAh capacity, you’ll be able to get two full charges out of your iPhone. The power bank is specifically designed to be short enough to not block the camera lenses, so you can take photos or videos while wirelessly charging your phone. However, according to one ZDNet reviewer who tested it, it’s “a bit thick and heavy compared to other 10,000mAh power banks.” That caveat didn’t stop ZDNet from calling the Baseus product “the best overall MagSafe battery of 2024,” though.

If you like the brand, Baseus offers a variety of options to best suit your needs, including 5,000mAh and 20,000mAh models. Additionally, you can opt to purchase the battery in one of four different colors. The Baseus Magnetic Portable Charger 20W 10,000mAh comes in white, black, pink, and purple, and is available on Amazon for around $25.99.

Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 2.5K

If you just need to top up your phone and don’t want a power bank that’s too big or intrusive, you can opt for the Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 2.5K with a 2500mAh capacity. Gear Patrol called it a “budget pick” on its list of the best MagSafe iPhone batteries . While you can find more affordable options, it still costs less than some of its larger-capacity competitors. It’s slim and compact enough to slip right into your pocket. It also conveniently starts charging your phone the moment you plug it in and uses pass-through technology to continue charging even while the power bank itself is charging.

Its smaller capacity might not be the best option if you have a larger, newer phone with a bigger battery, like the iPhone 15 Pro. When SlashGear reviewed the iPhone 15 Pro, we praised its high-quality cameras and “stellar performance,” but that performance does come with a bit of power. However, if you’re carrying around an older, smaller phone or aren’t really interested in a power bank that can fully charge your device, the Belkin product won’t disappoint. Plus, it’s designed to not block the iPhone 15’s camera, so you can still use its powerful lenses. The white Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 2.5K is available on Amazon for $38.49, or a black one for a few dollars more.

Anker MagGo Powerbank (10,000)

The Anker MagGo Power Bank has a lot going for it and is one of the best MagSafe power banks you can find. With a 10,000mAh capacity, it has twice the charging power of the Anker 622 MagGo. It’s also lightning fast, as it’s an officially Qi2 certified charger that uses Anker’s patented PowerIQ fast wireless charging technology, which combines cutting-edge hardware with intelligent algorithms and other software to maximize efficiency and minimize charging times. Its 15W wireless charging can charge an iPhone 15 Pro from 0% to 25% in just 22 minutes and 50% in 44 minutes. It’s no wonder Wired named the device the “best Qi2 MagSafe power bank” of 2024. With the included USB-C cable, it can also provide 27W wired charging for even faster speeds.

Instead of just using LEDs to indicate battery level, the Anker MagGo Power Bank (10K) features an incredibly convenient and easy-to-read smart display on the side that will tell you when the power bank is charging, when it’s charging your device, battery level, full charge time, and remaining battery life in minutes/hours. It will also charge your device while the power bank is charging and uses Anker’s ActiveShield 2.0 technology to constantly monitor the power bank’s temperature throughout the day to ensure safe charging.

It also includes a stand for media viewing, video chatting, and more. One downside to the product is that it’s more expensive than most 10,000mAh power banks — even those with MagSafe. The Anker MagGo Power Bank (10K) costs $89.99 and comes in five different colors that all cost the same: black, white, blue, purple, and green.
