NIPCCD reconstitutes Executive Council and General Body to streamline operations

An Extraordinary Meeting of the Executive Council and Special Meeting of the General Body of the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 5th August 2024. The meeting, chaired by the Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi, was accompanied by the reconstitution of the governing bodies of the institute.

Originally established in 1966 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, the old Executive Council (EC) and General Body (GB) of the NIPCCD were restructured. The new configuration features a streamlined approach with 22 members in the General Body and 13 in the Executive Council, a significant reduction from the previous 94 members in the GB and 21 in the EC.

Smt. Annpurna Devi, as the President of the former General Body and Chairperson of the Executive Council, approved the new structure. The reconstitution is aimed at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the NIPCCD activities.

The Minister directed NIPCCD to focus on several key areas including:

Training:Supervising the training of field officers of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Tests:Conducting research and documenting key issues related to women’s and children’s development.

Mental health services:Expanding mental health services and advanced diploma courses in children’s guidance and counselling.

Advocacy support:Supporting the Ministry in promoting key missions like Poshan Mission 2.0, Vatsalya Mission and Shakti Mission.

The aim of this reorganization is to improve the capacity of NIPCCD to respond to and manage the changing development needs of women and children.
