Elon Musk’s X Files Antitrust Lawsuit Against Advertising Group GARM

Elon Musk’s social media platform X has filed an antitrust lawsuit against the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), accusing the advertising group of illegally boycotting companies including X, formerly known as Twitter.

X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced Tuesday that the company has filed a lawsuit against GARM, the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), and GARM members CVS Health, Mars, Orsted, and Unilever.

Yaccarino said X filed the lawsuit after learning of a recent House Judiciary Committee investigation that found evidence “that GARM and its members directly organized boycotts and used other indirect tactics to target unpopular platforms, content creators, and news organizations with the goal of demonetizing and, in effect, limiting certain consumer choices.”

She stated that X determined that GARM tactics were costing X billions of dollars.

In a press release on Tuesday, Rumble, a provider of video-sharing platforms and cloud services, announced it would join the lawsuit.
