BMS Australia strengthens energy team with strategic appointments

BMS Australia (BMS), an independent insurance and reinsurance broker, has announced the appointment of Dianne Riopelle as an account manager in its energy team, further strengthening its position in the renewables, power and energy sectors.

Riopelle (pictured) will report to Ben Humphries, head of energy in Australia.

The brokerage said the move was part of its strategy to capitalise on market opportunities in these emerging sectors.

New Account Manager for BMS Australia’s Energy Team

Riopelle brings a diverse background in advising clients in the Australian and North American markets. Her expertise includes battery energy storage systems (BESS), hydroelectric and pumped storage, and nuclear power plant modernization.

Prior to joining BMS, she held various positions with Marsh, Willis Towers Watson and Gallagher, gaining experience in the United States, Canada, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas.

In his new role, Riopelle will leverage his global experience to help clients manage regulated energy networks, including critical transmission and distribution systems.

New Account Director for BMS Australia’s Energy Team

In addition to Riopelle, Toby Lucas has joined the team as account manager.

Lucas, who previously worked at Marsh, recently completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), specialising in International Business and Marketing.

BMS Energy Practice

Since its inception, BMS’s energy practice has grown significantly, representing several major renewable energy developers and asset owners across Australia. The team provides comprehensive support throughout the project lifecycle, from early development through to construction and operations.

Commenting on the new additions to the energy team, Humphries discussed the company’s growth over the past four years.
