– The National Training Agency in Grand Bahama has adopted a new focus – community outreach and collaboration, according to Grand Bahama Minister, Hon. Ginger Moxey, who was one of the speakers at the graduation ceremony for Cohort 16 of the National Training Agency (NTA), on August 1, 2024, at the Kingdom Worship Center.

Grand Bahama Minister, Hon. Ginger Moxey was one of the speakers at the graduation ceremonies for Cohort 16 of the National Training Agency on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the Kingdom Worship Center.

She noted that this shift in NTA priorities has yielded many results, as evidenced by the 22-strong graduating class of Cohort 16. NTA was founded in Grand Bahama in 2014 and has since graduated more than 120 individuals with enhanced professional skills in a variety of disciplines.

“As former board member Leslie Dorsett-Lewis pointed out, I initiated Collab, a partnership for the development unit, in my first year of ministry because I understand that collaboration is key to success,” said Minister Moxey. “Too often we find ourselves working in silos. But if we can pull it all together, we can achieve more.

“At the Ministry of Grand Bahama, we are proud to be one of those collaborative partners. These partnerships will create employment opportunities for many of the interns. Mr. Miller (NTA Manager) contacted us and asked if our Beautiful Grand Bahama program would be able to engage some of the NTA participants. So we are looking into it to see how we can accommodate that request.”

Minister Moxey emphasized that her Ministry’s vision for Grand Bahama is bold and transformational. The Ministry is committed and committed its resources to establishing Grand Bahama as a home for events and entertainment, a home for maritime and logistics, and a home for innovation.

She noted that through initiatives like Innovate 242, the Ministry of Grand Bahama is laying the groundwork for a bright future. She explained that the Innovate 242 Business Incubator, to be located on Mall Drive, was designed specifically for individuals like those who graduated Thursday evening. “We support local startups and entrepreneurs, promote innovation, and drive economic growth, all in a one-stop shop model,” Minister Moxey added. “We urge you to come together because it will certainly help you expand your reach.

“Through our continued efforts and investments, we are also ensuring that Grand Bahama is not only a good place to live, but also a place to thrive. It was a pleasure to meet with some of you after your training sessions at the Collab Resource Center.”

Minister Moxey named the 16th cohort a pioneer not only because it was one of the largest cohorts in recent memory, but also because it was the first cohort to offer multi-skills training delivered simultaneously.

As an entrepreneur and the first female minister in Grand Bahama, she expressed pride that the group of 16 included 22 young women, reflecting the Davis Administration’s commitment to supporting not only men but also women in corporate, civic and entrepreneurial roles.

“Your success will be a testament to the potential of our island, and it is our responsibility to nurture and harness that potential,” said Minister Moxey.

“Your graduation from the National Training Agency is a significant milestone in the long journey ahead of you. Now it’s time to move on to the next step. Don’t hesitate. Continue and believe, and by the power of God you will achieve greatness. May your journey of a thousand miles be filled with purpose, passion and perseverance.”
