India plans to produce 500 GW of energy from non-fossil sources by 2030

Joshi said that till the Modi government took power in 2014, only Rs 6,000 crore was spent on renewable energy. However, in the last 10 years, Rs 36,950 crore has been spent on renewable energy production, a 500 per cent increase.

He added that this fiscal, Rs 21,000 crore has been allocated for renewable energy and the investment is planned to be increased to Rs 1.60 lakh crore in the coming years.

The minister said that a full exemption had been granted Interstate Transmission System (ISTS) interstate solar and wind sales charges power for projects that will be put into operation by 30 June 2025. Green Hydrogen Projects by December 2030, and for offshore wind energy projects – by December 2032.

Joshi said 100% FDI is also allowed under the automatic route for renewable energy generation and distribution projects. He said the Union government has approved the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme for offshore wind power projects to install and commission 1 GW of offshore wind power projects.
