1 person dead after crashed by cement truck in Orangeburg County

BOWMAN, S.C. (WIS) – One person was killed in a crash in Orangeburg County Wednesday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).

Troopers said a 1986 Mercedes was traveling eastbound on I-26 near mile marker 161, about eight miles north of Bowman, around 2:30 p.m.

The Mercedes collided with a cement truck traveling eastbound in another lane, according to SCHP.

The driver of the Mercedes was injured and taken to hospital, where he later died. No information regarding the identity of the victim has been released at this time.

The driver of the cement truck escaped uninjured.

SCHP is continuing to investigate the crash.
