Spain: +215 (bet $100, win $315)

The French defense was a deciding factor at this year’s Olympics.

Les Bleus have conceded just one goal in the entire tournament, in their semi-final win over Morocco. They are blocking, intercepting and limiting shots on goal. They are making it difficult to score goals, while showing the ability to put the ball in the net almost at will.

Their 11 goals at these Olympics put them level on goalscoring with their opponents, Spain, in the entire tournament.

The biggest problem France will face as they try to win their first gold medal since 1984 will be the pressure of winning at the Parc des Princes. Les Bleus are playing on home soil in front of what will certainly be a raucous crowd.

Will the pressure to succeed prove too much for the men’s team?

Spain are young, have excellent footballing skills and can wear down opponents by simply running with them around the pitch. Like France, La Roja are excellent goalscorers who can keep up with their opponents with their ability to find the net quickly.

If the French succumb to the pressure, they could easily find themselves in an unfamiliar situation at these Games: a deficit.

Still, Spain’s defence is questionable, as evidenced by the fact that they have conceded a goal in every match apart from the quarter-final clash with Japan. That leaves them vulnerable to a powerful French attack that could prove decisive.

Ultimately, it is nearly impossible to find a weakness in the French team. They played every aspect of the game flawlessly and should be rewarded on Friday with a gold medal that has been four decades in the making.

Forecast: France wins the gold medal.
