These 10 cities in the world are home to the most ultra-rich people

There are more ultra-rich people on Earth than ever before—426,330 to be exact, according to Wealth-X. That’s about 0.005% of the world’s total population.

The ultra-rich are defined as those with a net worth of at least $30 million. Their population grew by 7.6% over the past year, and their combined net worth is $49.2 trillion. Only 0.8% of the global ultra-rich population are billionaires, but they account for 24% of the total net worth, according to Wealth-X’s Ultra Wealth Report 2024.

And birds of the same species stick together.

Nearly 75% of the world’s ultra-rich live in just 10 countries, and about one-sixth of the world’s richest people live in 10 cities.

Six of those cities are in the United States, which makes sense considering 35% of the world’s ultra-rich live in the country. While three Asian cities made the list last year, Singapore fell off.

These cities are likely to become even more important global centers of wealth over the next five years as the concentration of ultra-high net worth individuals increases: Wealth-X predicts that almost 42% of ultra-high net worth individuals will live in one of the 50 cities, up from 38% in 2015.

Some of those 50 cities will be in emerging wealth centers, including India. Three of the 10 fastest-growing cities for the ultra-rich are in the country: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi. The ultra-rich population in each of those cities is growing by 14% to 16% per year.

According to the report, here are 10 cities where the world’s ultra-high net worth individuals live, along with a list of the ultra-rich residents of each city.
