Jamshedpur: In a significant step towards enhancing security and streamlining law enforcement processes, Kolhan Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Manoj Ratan Chote, IPS, along with Superintendent of Police, Seraikela Kharsawan, Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, IPS, will inaugurate the Hotel Guest Verification System on August 12 at Hotel Cruze in Seraikela. The initiative, a collaboration between Jamshedpur Hotel and Restaurant Association (JHRA) and Saraikela District Police, marks a significant technological leap in Jharkhand’s approach to law enforcement.

The need for a more efficient process for police verification of hotel guests was identified by the JHRA, which brought the issue to the attention of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Jamshedpur. The previous system was known for its complexity and inefficiency, making it difficult for law enforcement agencies to effectively monitor potential criminal activities. In response to these concerns, the State National Informatics Centre (NIC) Jharkhand, under the leadership of Dr. Piyush Gupta, former Director of SIO, developed a specialized software solution.

This new hotel guest verification system, which is set to debut in Seraikela district, is the first of its kind in Jharkhand. The software enables hotels, local police stations and district police departments to seamlessly upload and access guest information, making the verification process much more efficient. By facilitating easier access to guest data, the system is expected to improve the ability of law enforcement agencies to track and prevent illegal activities.

NIC joint director Kishore Prasad highlighted the importance of the software in simplifying hotel operations while strengthening security measures. Ravish Ranjan, president, JHRA, echoed these sentiments, noting that the system will provide a seamless experience for hotel operators and contribute to public safety.

In addition to the launch of the verification system, the appointment of a Nodal Officer for the Tourist Police was also announced. This appointment underscores the district’s commitment to ensuring the safety of tourists and maintaining public order, reflecting a proactive approach to meeting the needs of both residents and visitors.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by several eminent officials including Dipak Kumar, Senior Director cum SIO, Kishore Prasad, Joint Director (IT) NIC, Jamshedpur, Prashant Kumar Sinha, Deputy Director (IT) NIC, Ranchi and Saroj Kumar Rajan, Deputy Director (IT) NIC, Ranchi, and Rituraj Priyadarshi, DIO Seraikela Kharsawan. They have played a key role in conceptualizing and implementing this pioneering project.

“The introduction of Hotel Guest Verification System is a novel approach to law enforcement in the region, with the potential for wider adoption across Jharkhand. This initiative not only enhances security but also signals a commitment to using technology to enhance public safety and streamline administrative processes,” the official said.
