Taliban government in Afghanistan has ‘responsibility to maintain Islamic rule’: PM

The Taliban government must maintain Islamic rule in Afghanistan, the prime minister said Wednesday in a statement marking the third anniversary of the Taliban’s takeover of the country.

Taliban authorities “have a duty to maintain Islamic rule, protect property, people’s lives and respect for our nation,” Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund said in a statement read by his chief of staff during anniversary events at Bagram Air Base.
