Google Expands Retail Presence and After-Sales Support in India

Google on Tuesday, August 13, announced the opening of three Google-owned customer service centres in India, in a bid to expand retail and after-sales support in the country. One Google-owned customer service centre will open in Delhi and Bengaluru tomorrow (August 14), while a third in Mumbai is expected to open soon after, the tech giant said. At these exclusive centres, Google device owners will get the “highest level” of service for their products. Whether it’s a device repair, replacement or query resolution, trained staff at these centres will help with all these issues and in many cases, return the device the same day.

Google’s announcement to expand its Pixel retail network in India comes more than a year after Apple opened official stores in Mumbai and New Delhi.

Potential buyers can now find Pixel products in over 150 stores run by two major electronics retailers, Croma and Reliance Digital. This expanded availability covers 15 urban centres across the country, making it easier for buyers to experience and purchase Pixel devices in person. This comes after the tech giant announced that it was strengthening its ‘Make in India’ initiative. Google has started local assembly of its flagship Pixel 8 smartphone in the country. The move is in line with the government’s push for domestic manufacturing of electronic goods. Google has also continued to increase its investment and presence in one of the largest smartphone markets in the world.

Pixel Phones, Fitbit Devices and More Service at After-Sales Centers

These service centers will offer services for a range of Google products available in India, including Pixel phones, Watches, Buds, as well as Fitbit and Google Nest devices — regardless of where they were purchased or whether they are under warranty. Google has set up these exclusive service centers in partnership with Flipkart’s service arm, F1 Info Solutions and Services Private Limited, which continues to partner with Google to operate over 100 multi-brand service centers across cities in India.

Google Pixel Availability in Croma and Reliance Stores

Google also announced the expansion of Pixel retail availability: Starting tomorrow, users will find Pixel products in Croma and Reliance Retail stores across the country, as Google is making them available for purchase, starting with the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL that will go on sale from August 22. While Flipkart remains the company’s retail partner for online sales, Google will be bringing its Pixel family of devices to offline locations for the many people who prefer to try out products in real life before buying. Pixel products will be available in around 150 Croma and Reliance Retail stores across 15+ cities in India.
