Banks to connect with Thang Rath app to enable distribution of digital materials

All banks are ready to connect to the Thang Rath app’s open payment system, which will be used to pay 10,000 baht digital payments to eligible Thais under the government’s digital wallet program, a government spokesman said Chai Wacharonke he said on Wednesday.

While updating on the progress of the programme, for which registration began on August 1, Chai said the Thai Bankers Association has informed that all banks are willing to cooperate with the government to connect to the Thang Rath app’s open payment system.

Chai said the association has tasked its Payment System Office with working with each bank’s CIO to coordinate with the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA), which developed the app, to ensure a clear understanding of the open payment system architecture.

“The association is confident that the payment system linkage will be completed on schedule,” Chai said.

The spokesperson also warned the public not to believe false information claiming that registering for digital money on the Thang Rath app will expose their personal information to leakage.

“The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society emphasizes that the Thang Rath app was developed by the DGA to help the public access government services quickly and safely. The app is safe, transparent and fully verifiable,” Chai said.
