Northcoders launches its first C# program

Northcoders is launching a brand new C# Software Development Skills Boot Camp aimed at helping those looking to pursue a career in software development, particularly in web APIs, enterprise applications, or back-end systems.

The 13-week course is the first time Northcoders has run a C#-focused program. The team decided to launch it due to the growing demand from companies that need junior developers specializing in the language.

The programme can be delivered face to face at Northcoders’ Manchester or Leeds campuses, or fully remotely. This gives you complete flexibility and we hope it will enable as many people from as many backgrounds as possible to learn.

There are free government-funded bursaries available through the Skills Bootcamp scheme, but there are certain criteria, including: being 19 years of age on 31 August 2024, being resident in England and having the right to work in the UK. The free Skills Eligibility Checker is available here.

The main goal of the C# programming skills bootcamp is not just to teach you how to code, but also to acquire all the programming skills you need to thrive in a dynamic job market. According to IT Jobs Watch, the average salary in the UK for Junior C# developers is £27,500, rising to £60,000 for C# developers, according to DevIT Jobs.

The full schedule of classes is available online, but will include an introductory week where participants will learn the basics of C#, tools and IDEs, types, Git version control, debugging, dependency management, and issue decomposition; a foundation week where participants will learn the pillars of object-oriented programming; followed by four weeks dedicated to front-end and back-end building blocks; and a project phase where everything will be put together and a full-stack application will be built using agile practices.

C# students will also benefit from seven specialist career sessions led by Northcoders career development experts. These sessions are designed to help you improve your interview skills, identify potential roles and build your portfolio. Daily tutor support will also be provided.

Neil Hughes, Head of C# at Northcoders, said: “We are always looking to adapt and launch new programmes that are based on industry needs. The C# Software Development Bootcamp is an exciting step forward and I am confident that it will help create highly talented and specialised developers who will be able to add value to employers and also enable them to pursue careers in the technology industry.”
